Arts and Energy

Two libraries that didn’t fit the other discipline buckets but share little with each other.

LibraryWhat it coversNotes
MusicMusic theory, audio production + mixing + mastering, synthesis + electronic music, live sound + acoustics, sound design for film + games, ethnomusicology + world music, performance practice + historical instruments. T2 orchestration + audio engineering. T3 (genre tree + instrument catalog, DAW + plugin catalog, mic + synth catalog).11+
EnergyMarketsElectricity markets, natural gas + oil, capacity + ancillary, carbon markets + compliance, transmission + grid services, renewable energy certificates, demand response + flexibility. T2 LNG + weather derivatives.8+

Why these are grouped

They’re not — this is the “leftover bucket” after Sciences / Engineering / Math / Society. The grouping is structural convenience, not conceptual. Future reorganization could place EnergyMarkets under Society (it’s a market) and Music under a Humanities or Arts top-level (alongside Philosophy if that domain grows).

Cross-cutting

  • Music ↔ acoustics-noise-control — psychoacoustics
  • Music ↔ Compute — DSP, audio plugins, ML for audio
  • EnergyMarkets ↔ ClimateScience — carbon markets, climate policy
  • EnergyMarkets ↔ Society — economics + finance + law of energy
  • EnergyMarkets ↔ Engineering — generation, transmission, storage hardware

Adjacent

  • Walkthroughs — many energy-themed walkthroughs (solar PV, offshore wind, SMR, district energy, data center cooling)
